Framing for an original work

My favorite way to frame a watercolor painting is with a float mount. It beautifully displays the decorative deckled edges of watercolor paper.
In essence, the painting is mounted from behind with holding tape to the backboard and then framed with protective glass in front.

Framing for an art print

An art print can be framed with or without a passe-partout. Should the artwork be framed with a passe-partout, my suggestion is that it needs to be a bit bigger than your artwork, so to create a gap (3-5 mm) between the two. This will highlight the painting visually in a more effective manner.
